The time is now! But WHY?!
-
NYS Parks will be making improvements to Joe Davis this year! These include a new playground, additional nature trails and new trailheads. Our trails could connect with theirs!
-
Lower River Road has become increasingly busier each summer, so, it’s time to make a safer – and slower – path for our communities to connect to our parks.
-
Village of Youngstown is seeking grants to improve the recreation opportunities in Veterans Park and make it the hub of community activities. The timing is perfect to work jointly with them to include a trail.
HOW? Here are some ideas:

RAIL TRAILS: Construct a new trail along the existing historic Youngstown Railroad corridor from:
-
Veterans Park to Youngstown Estates
-
Joseph Davis State Park to Dockside Drive

VILLAGE ROUTE: Build bike paths and routes through Village of Youngstown
-
New bike loop in Veterans Park, connecting new amenities
-
Designated bike route connecting Veterans Park to Fort Niagara

18F RIVER PATH: Improve safety for “Magical Mile” vehicular and recreational users
-
Existing Trail Improvements – Widening, Placement, Physical Barriers
-
Defined Route for Cyclists (Sharrow)
-
Speed Limit Reduction
-
Additional Stop Signs and/or Pedestrian Cross Walks
-
Traffic Diversion to Niagara Scenic Parkway (Re-route Commercial Traffic, Add an Exit)
-
Intersection Improvements: Improve crossing safety at key points
